Pin U Lwin

Pin U-Lwin (Colonial British name was MayMyo) is another Colonial British hill station that, like Kalaw hosts a military college. It also was freezing. We stayed one night and it couldn't have been much more than 5 degrees C. We stayed at a government hotel, the Thiri Myaing a former Colonial British manor house - it was expensive ($30), badly run - no hot water in the morning. The staff forgot to start the fire under the water heater.

The town had a lovely public garden (left over from the Colonial British) and two terrific markets. And like everywhere else, trucks in and out of town are never empty.
